Sometimes we worry ourselves to death, literally. May this never be! Especially when we take our worries, concerns, fears, hurts, and pains to the Lord in prayer.
Some may think that by taking our worries to God in prayer means that we are not doing anything physically to combat or alleviate that which is causing our worry. However, this is far from the truth. According to the Bible, we should take everything to the Lord in prayer.
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known to God.” Philippians 4:6
Philippians 4:6 not only tells us that we are to take everything to the Lord in prayer, but that we should do it with thanksgiving! I know what you are going through is tough, I have been there. However, we are to always have a heart of gratitude towards God just for who He is. If we look at the next verse that follows we see the benefits of giving up worry and anxiousness for prayer, supplication, and thanksgiving.
“And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7
This is so comforting. If we would stay fervent in prayer acknowledging, thanking and glorifying our heavenly father, then we will experience the power, peace and protection of God on display for a watching world to see when we find ourselves experiencing that which causes us to worry.
This I leave you with, make prayer a regular part of your day so that when trials come you will be ready to turn your worries into prayers. By doing this, you will be demonstrating your trust and dependence on God and His word and the sovereign God we serve will be displaying His power, perfect peace and His protection to His people.
To be continued in Part 2.
Biblically accurate, encouraging, and straight to the point! Philippians 4:6-7 were my anchor verses during my very recent, very painful trial. Looking forward to reading Part 2!
Latanya, I am encouraged by how you are putting your trials in God’s hands and trusting His word in how you do so. Stay encouraged! I am also looking forward to writing Part 2! Grace & Peace my sister!
I know I am being stretched in my faith…Thanks Janelle for the reminder in Phil 4:6!!!
“I know I am being stretched in my faith…” Praise God Tammy! That stretching is spiritual growth and God is so faithful to conform us to the image of Christ!!!
Excellent! Such an encouraging reminder to take everything to God in prayer. In His arms He’ll take and shield us, we will find a solace there. #whatafriendwehaveinJesus
