The Joy of Fellowship
Many of us enjoy and look forward to family gatherings and hanging out with our friends. We get a thrill and feel comfortable being in the company of people whom we share a great deal of similarities with (i.e. ethnicity, gender, social groups, personality, worldview, etc.). So it should come as no surprise when I say I get excited about and eagerly await the joy of fellowship with other believers (I have not always been at this point, thankful for sanctification). The joy of fellowship that I am referring to, most definitely takes place on Sunday mornings, but it also occurs anywhere or anytime believers assemble. You see, the joy of fellowship is an unique, joy-filled bond that believers share because of who they are in (Jesus Christ) regardless of what they have in common. This special relationship is based on love (I Corinthians 13: 4-8) and is put into action when we get together.
“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.” – Hebrews 10:23-25
If you have experienced the joy of fellowship that I am talking about then you are definitely looking forward to the next opportunity to fellowship with the saints. However, if you have not experienced the joy of fellowship with other believers then start small by visiting a biblically sound church in your area. Let us not forsake The Joy of Fellowship with our brothers and sisters in Christ. For it is through this gathering that we are reminded of the work of the Holy Spirit in bringing the diverse church body together, to love and encourage one another in the Lord. Grace & Peace!
